IUBAC North Central Regional Director Steve Bailey Retires After 40 Years with IUBAC & Local 1

Brother Steve Bailey, most recently the Regional Director for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers’ North Central Region, has also recently retired.

Brother Bailey was indentured to William Milward Contractors in October 1975. After initiating as a Journeyman Bricklayer in April 1979, he spent most of his career working for numerous BAC Contractors and was a foreman from 1983 until January 1995.  In September 1988, he was appointed to the Local 1 Executive Board, where he served the members faithfully until in January 1995, when he was asked to become a Business Representative for the Union, and appointed Treasurer. His local Labor Club, took note and in 2001, he was appointed Secretary-Treasurer of the Tri-County Labor Club, a seat he held until 2012, when he was elected President by their membership.

The International Union reached out in January 2007, asking Brother Bailey to become an Organizer in the North Central Region. Later that year, in October 2007, the City of St. Peters reached out and asked him to join their Planning and Zoning Board. In February 2008, having proven himself an excellent representative for the Union and its membership, Brother Bailey was promoted to Regional Director for the North Central Region and appointed to the International Union of Bricklayers’ and Allied Craftworkers’ Executive Council, on which he served until his recent retirement.
