East Central College has formally announced the new agreement on their website and in a series of press releases. An excerpt is below:
East Central College will offer an opportunity for Bricklayers' Local 1 members to complete an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Skilled Trades. This degree opportunity was agreed upon recently between the College and the Bricklayers' Local 1 of Missouri Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC).
The Skilled Trades degree will consist of a combination of Apprenticeship training earned by the Union members combined with the completion of general education courses at East Central College, either online or on campus. The students entering the degree program are also eligible for financial aid.
“Once the union member completes 15 credit hours of general education courses at ECC, they will earn an Associate of Applied Science in Skilled Trades," said Richard Hudanick, East Central College Dean of Career and Technical Education.
