The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final ruling to curb lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in America's workers by limiting their exposure to respirable crystalline silica. The rule is comprised of two standards, one for Construction and one for General Industry and Maritime.

As we found out through our pilot program on Election Day April 4, trainings are an intricate part of making our efforts a successful piece of the puzzle to beating back right to work in Missouri. So many situations in the field were handled expertly by our volunteers because of the training program that could have otherwise gone awry.

Repealing or weakening Prevailing Wage laws in Missouri means that you work just as hard as you do now for minimum wage, and not the wage you collectively bargained for. Missouri HB104 sailed through the Missouri House, with the Speaker not even acknowledging any input or dissent from a single Representative.  Now, it moves on to the Senate, which has it's own version, SB 20.

After over 40 Years with the Bricklayers, ADC of Eastern Missouri Director Don Brown retired on March 1, 2017, appointing Brother Brian Jennewein as his successor.

Brother Don Brown was indentured to Masonry Systems in September 1974, and as a Journeyman Bricklayer, worked most of his career for John J. Smith Masonry Company. 

Brother Steve Bailey, most recently the Regional Director for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers’ North Central Region, has also recently retired.

Brother John Finder began his bricklaying career as an Apprentice with Joseph Finder Bricklaying. After initiating as a Journeyman Bricklayer, he worked most of his career for Fred L. Davis Bricklaying and John Smith Masonry Company. While working for Fred L. Davis Bricklaying, Brother Brian Jennewein, now the Director of the ADC of Eastern Missouri, served as an Apprentice under Brother Finder.

Brother Gary Juenger began his career as a Bricklayer when he was indentured to Fred L. Davis Bricklaying in May 1979. After serving his Apprenticeship and initiating as a Journeyman Bricklayer in October 1982, he spend most of his career working for Fred L. Davis Bricklaying, John J. Smith Masonry Company and Grant Bricklaying Company.  

Mark Savage and Johnny Walker, Jr. were appointed as Field Representatives and Officers of Bricklayers Local 1 of Missouri on Monday, February 27, 2017, just ahead of the retirement of former ADC of Eastern Missouri Director Don Brown.  Both join us with decades of experience bricklaying with our Signatory Contractors, and Johnny brings almost seven years of Refractory Bricklaying experience into the Hall.
