Delay of Silica Standard Has Deadly Consequences for Workers Including BAC Members

Statement by International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers President James Boland on the 90-Day Delay of OSHA’s Silica Standard

Starting June 23, American workers will have the right to a workplace where they don’t have to breathe tiny particles of glass that cut their lungs.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final ruling to curb lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in America's workers by limiting their exposure to respirable crystalline silica. The rule is comprised of two standards, one for Construction and one for General Industry and Maritime.

Information shared via Missouri AFL-CIO, and will be updated as new sessions are added
