The 2023 Bricklayer500 Regional Competition was held at Midwest Brick & Block on Saturday, September 16.  As has been customary, every team competing was a Union Member employed by one of our Bricklayers Local 1 of Missouri Signatory Contractors.




We are excited to announce the First Place winning team *and* the Top Craftsman award at the 2023 Bricklayer500 Regional Contest are Local 1 MO Journeyman Bricklayer Rudy Menke, and his Mason Tender Steve Braswell, employed by Local 1 Signatory Contractor John Smith Masonry. They will be advancing on to the National Championships in Las Vegas in January 2024.

Officers and Members of Tilesetters Local 18 of Missouri have an active job action against Planet Fitness, located at the corner of Chippewa and S. Kingshighway, for hiring American Flooring, an out-of-state non-Signatory Contractor, to do work on this location. 

Mike Weber, President and Business Agent for Tilesetters Local 18 of Missouri, spoke with the Lead Installer for this company who informed him he is working for $25/hr with no benefits and said the rest of the crew is paid $20/hr with no benefits.

The International Pension Funds (IPF) and International Health Funds (IHF) in conjunction with the Member Assistance Program (MAP) have launched a new website, http://bacbenefits.org/

CBS is creating a new, competitive reality show with a working title of “Tough as Nails” and asked for help to locate contestants that best represent the Trade Unions. 

Representatives from United Healthcare, Cigna Dental, and the IHF held a Health Fair in the ADC Hall on Wednesday, October 9  for all ADC members and their families.  The services included biometric screenings and flu shots, as well as several giveaways.

Officers and Members of Bricklayers' Local 1 have an active job action against Fairfield Inn & Suites on Butler Hill Road at Hwy 55, for hiring a contractor that pays its workers substandard wages and benefits was hired to build this new hotel location.

The U.S. Bates Scholarship program is now accepting applications for the 2021 competition. Every year the program selects three students to receive a stipend of $5,000 per year for up to four years.

To be considered for the 2021 U.S. Bates Scholarship, a student must be the child or stepchild of a U.S. member in good standing of a BAC Local, and plan to enter college in the fall of 2021. Students must plan to take the standardized “PSAT” exam in October 2019.
