Organized in 1864, we are theBricklayers Local 1, and the first Labor Union and Local of any trade west of the Mississippi River. The Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Administrative Council of Eastern Missouri represents Local 1 of Missouri bricklayers, stone, pointers/cleaners/caulkers and marble masons, and Local 18 of Missouri tilesetters, terrazzo and mosaic workers.
We take pride in the fact that we've built St. Louis, and that our leadership has taken care of the membership of this Union for more than 150 years, and will continue to do so for many more.
Officers and Members of Bricklayers' Local 1 have an active job action against Fairfield Inn & Suites on Butler Hill Road at Hwy 55, for hiring a contractor that pays its workers substandard wages and benefits was hired to build this new hotel location.
Thanks to Retired Local 18 Tilesetters Steve Hanlon and Richard Hanlon for volunteering their time to assist us with the bannering!
